Training & Initiation

Study group

The North Coven occasionally hosts a Wicca Study Group to offer magical training for seekers interested in the Alexandrian Tradition of Witchcraft. This group is a gateway for those who feel this spiritual path aligns with their beliefs and are considering coven membership.

In line with traditional practices, our training is offered free of charge. However, commitment and effort are required from all students. Completing the course is an important step, but it does not automatically lead to initiation.

Course content

The Wicca Study Group covers a wide range of essential topics, including:

  • History of the Craft

  • The Wheel of the Year

  • Deities and Mythology

  • Magical Ethics

  • Herbs and natural elements

  • Magic and Divination

And much more...

These subjects provide a solid foundation in Wicca, helping you determine if this path resonates with your spiritual journey.

Participation requirements

  • Age: You must be 21 years or older.

  • Location: Live within an hour of our meeting locations in West Ottawa and/or be able to participate in person bi-weekly.

  • Covid-19 Vaccination: Proof of vaccination is required to participate.

Understanding British Traditional Witchcraft

Before considering joining a coven, it’s crucial to understand British Traditional Witchcraft, Western Occultism and Wicca thoroughly.

We recommend seekers to read extensively and explore resources both in print and online. For guidance, check out our suggested Reading List section and join the Alexandrian Wicca Seekers and Initiates group on Facebook or the British Traditional Witchcraft channel on Discord to connect with initiates worldwide.

We encourage you to connect with other groups and explore different paths to ensure your decision is well-informed.

Training and Initiation Process

If you wish to join the coven, you must request initiation, which will commence your Tradition training period.

Please note that the Study Group and the Tradition Training are different things.

The North Coven operates on the principle of polarity, meaning you will work with people of different genders and practice skyclad. Please consider these factors before committing.

During training, you may be invited to meeting our members, providing an opportunity to assess compatibility with our initiates and practices. After a certain amount of collaboration, we will discuss the Initiation and formalizing your coven membership.
